Plastic Pollution in the Great Lakes

Location

Thomas Gosnell Hall - A261

In general, plastic pollution is found throughout the Great Lakes Watershed. Different plastics are found in different areas because of the different characteristics of plastic materials. These different plastics harm the environment in various ways; our students and faculty are studying this topic from many different perspectives. Our research connects RIT with the larger community through partnerships with Monroe County, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Seneca Park Zoo, R-Centers, and local schools. Visitors will be able to interact with exhibits and equipment related to plastic pollution. Hands-on activities on plastic and recycling will be run by students, faculty, and staff. Posters with in-depth results of the many plastic pollution research projects will be displayed.
