Swartzlander presents at solar sailing symposium

Grover Swartzlander, professor in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, and Amber Dubill ’20, ’20 MS (mechanical engineering) of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab gave separate invited talks on diffractive solar sailing missions and concepts at the International Symposium on Solar Sailing, held June 5-9 in Brooklyn. RIT and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab are collaborating on a diffractive solar sailing project funded by a prestigious $2 million Phase III award from the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts program. Only one Phase III award is funded per year.
