You have to Roar to Soar! Empowering our Students for Success.

RIT students have access to a wide array of support services such as academic mentoring, career coaching, mental health counseling, and time management training. While RIT provides a wealth of resources, services, and community events, it can be challenging for students to absorb all this information at once or know where to go when they need help. To help our students succeed, the College of Science designed and implemented proactive communication initiatives to amplify these resources and empower students to utilize them.

The College of Science launched the “Roar and Soar” campaign this fall to raise awareness of the resources available to students. Along with resources, the campaign also shares tips for how students can actively engage in classes and events at RIT to get the most out of their academic journey. Advisors and faculty can use the campaign messages in their conversations with students to reinforce the available resources and behaviors essential to success.

“This student success campaign is designed to increase awareness, offer support, and keep our students informed on what they need to do to earn a degree at RIT,” said André Hudson, dean of the College of Science. “By fostering ongoing conversations throughout the semester, we can create an environment of accountability and support among our students.”

The transition from high school to college can be challenging. Helping our students set healthy habits at the beginning of their RIT journey is at the forefront of this campaign. Each week, a new topic is disseminated through multiple communication channels with associated RIT resources for students to explore. Weekly topics cover a myriad of important behaviors that will put students on the path to success such as showing up to class, getting involved in clubs, asking for help, and setting career goals.

RIT is a pathway to an excellent career in world-class industries. Successful students come ready to engage in the RIT experience, and it’s our job to provide the essential guidance and resources along the way to help our graduates land somewhere amazing.
