This month’s Faculty Fellows spotlight features Phil Shaw, Faculty Fellow for Gateway Course Student Success, and Makini Beck, Faculty Fellow for Inclusive Teaching Practices—two educators making a lasting impact on teaching and learning at RIT.

Makini Beck, Faculty Fellow for Inclusive Teaching Practices, partners with instructors to foster equitable and engaging classroom environments. Phil Shaw, Faculty Fellow for Gateway Course Student Success, focuses on improving learning experiences and outcomes in high-enrollment, high-impact courses that serve as gateways to degree completion. Phil collaborates with faculty to identify barriers to success, enhance course design, and implement evidence-based strategies that help all students thrive.
