The passing of Mitchell "Mitch" Bacot

Mitchell “Mitch” Bacot, ’05 Science (Applied Mathematics), ’07 NTID (Secondary Education of Students Who Are Deaf and Hard of Hearing), and faculty member in NTID’s Department of Science and Mathematics, passed away March 14, 2024, after a long illness. Mitch was known to all as a faith-filled person who loved teaching and who cared deeply about others. He leaves behind his wife, Jenamarie, also an RIT graduate, a large group of colleagues, family, and friends, and six young children.

“Mitch’s loss will be felt by the NTID campus community and the Rochester Deaf community as well,” said Gerry Buckley, NTID president and RIT vice president and dean. “My prayers go out to Jenamarie and the rest of Mitch’s family.”
