The Latino Lens Series has opened a second season, with documentary screenings in the Bamboo Room of the Campus Center.

“We are excited about this second annual Latino Lens series,” says Stephanie Paredes, cultural and programmatic initiatives coordinator for the North Star Center for Academic Success and Cultural Affairs, sponsor of the film series.

Seven documentaries have been scheduled including Balseros, Sept. 21; Senorita Extraviado, Sept. 28; Unsung Heroes, Oct. 5; The New Americans, Oct. 12 and Tal Como Somos, Oct. 19. All take place 7-9 p.m. in the Bamboo Room, and will be followed by discussions led by members of the North Star Center.

The College Activities Board is co-sponsoring one film in the Latino Lens Series. Crossing Over will be shown during the organization’s Thursday Movie Night at 10 p.m. on Oct. 7 in Ingle Auditorium.

“We have great collaborations with great clubs and organizations,” says Paredes. “We hope the Lens Series will help students, faculty and staff gain a deeper understanding of the Latino experience through various lenses.”

Free food and refreshments will be available at each event. For more information about the series, contact Paredes at 585-475-6918 or e-mail sxpnsc@rit.edu.
