Cartoonist Leigh Rubin visits campus this week

The creator of the popular syndicated cartoon Rubes will share his inspiration with the RIT community.

Leigh Rubin will give a presentation about the creative process and his cartooning techniques titled “A Twisted Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste” at 1 p.m. Oct. 28 in Golisano Hall auditorium. He will also critique student work during his on-campus visit.

Rubin’s cartoon appears in more than 400 newspapers worldwide including Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle, The Washington Times, the Los Angeles Daily News and the Houston Chronicle.

Rubes began in 1984 and the first paper collection of the cartoon was published in 1988. Rubin’s most recent series of books include the award-winning “Wild Life of Love” and “The Wild Life of Cats.” Rubin began his cartooning career in 1978 when he established his own greeting card company, Rubes Publications. He travels around the country giving cartoon presentations.
