Rendering of new facility for the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at RIT.

Rochester Institute of Technology will break ground on a new, state-of-the-art “green” facility for its Golisano Institute for Sustainability during a campus ceremony April 15.

The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. in J Lot and will include remarks by Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy and Stella Fiotes, chief facilities management officer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

It will be followed by a reception in the lobby of Louise M. Slaughter Hall that will include displays on sustainable architecture, alternative material use and energy efficient construction. Presentations will be given by current students in the Golisano Institute’s doctoral program in sustainability.
