RIT has appointed two new alumni to its Board of Trustees. The appointments of Stephen Schultz and Robert Rice were announced April 8 during the board meeting.
Schultz, who lives in Henrietta, N.Y., is the co-founder of Pictometry and serves as Pictometry’s chief technical officer. Schultz designed and developed the underlying technology for Pictometry’s patented systems, including the flight planning, field capture, and end-user software—Electronic Field Study, as well as designing and refining the products offered to the customer. As Employee No. 1 at Pictometry, he filled many roles in addition to engineering and technology and has been a member of Pictometry’s Board of Directors since 1998. His leadership has helped grow the company to more than 250 employees with 56 aircraft that have captured more than 140 million images in the United States and worldwide.
Schultz received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from RIT in 1989 and completed most of the coursework and research for a master’s degree in computational imaging but left to found Pictometry before completing his thesis.
Rice, who lives in Chevy Chase, Md., is president and managing partner of BayFirst Solutions LLC, a government contracting firm specializing in risk management, information technology and homeland security. In 2010, BayFirst was named by Washington Technology magazine as one of the Top 50 fastest growing government contractors in the country. At BayFirst, Rice oversees all strategic and business development initiatives to ensure the fulfillment of client missions and cultivation of key client relationships. Prior to BayFirst, he worked as an information technology consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Rice serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of the NTID (National Technical Institute for the Deaf) Foundation and participates as a member of the President’s Roundtable at RIT. He is a graduate of RIT where he received a bachelor of science degree in management and leadership in 1994 and an MBA with concentrations in management and information technology in 1997.
The Board of Trustees has 57 active members, including 26 who are alumni.
