This year’s Mud Tug will be held Sept. 24 in the field behind Grace Watson hall on the east side of campus.

Rochester Institute of Technology community members will battle it out in the mud to help a good cause.

The 16th annual Mud Tug will take place at noon Sept. 24 in the field behind Grace Watson Hall on the east side of campus.

Mud Tug, sponsored by RIT’s Phi Kappa Psi and Zeta Tau Alpha Greek organizations, is an annual tug-of-war event between teams of 10 competing in all-male, all-female and co-ed brackets, taking place in a huge mud pit. All of the proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Hillside Family of Agencies, one of Rochester’s oldest family and youth service organizations.

“The winners celebrate and the losers get dirty,” says Jenna Deutsch, a third-year advertising and public relations major and Mud Tug co-chair.

The Greek organizations will also host the Get Ready to Get Dirty barbecue from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 22. The free barbecue will include music by WITR-FM (89.7) and provide an opportunity for students to pre-register for the event.
