RIT hosts annual Advent Lessons and Carols

Dec. 16 program features orchestra, singers and a cappella groups

Rochester Institute of Technology ushers in the spirit of the season with its annual RIT Advent Lessons and Carols, 2 p.m. Dec. 16 in Allen Chapel, Schmitt Interfaith Center. The event is free and open to the Rochester community.

With performances by the RIT Orchestra, RIT Singers, a cappella groups Surround Sound, Eight Beat Measure and Encore, and featuring vocal soloist Rebecca Irwin, the event is based on the Christmas Eve Service of King’s College in Cambridge. Interspersed throughout the program will be Old English readings telling the Nativity story.

RIT Advent Lessons and Carols is sponsored by the Center for Religious Life and the College of Liberal Arts Performing Arts Program.
