Commuter week at RIT set to start March 11

RIT’s Commuter SpiRIT Week is March 11-15. Sponsored by the newly formed Association for Commuter Engagement, the week will include events, seminars, prizes, food and more, all for free.

The Association for Commuter Engagement, or ACE, was established to represent and advocate for students who live outside of RIT’s campus, as well as to provide resources to commuters, such as fairs, workshops, guides and access to free printing, beverages and lockers.

“Commuter SpiRIT Week is RIT’s first ever attempt to highlight an often underrepresented population on such a large scale,” says Sarah Griffith, assistant director of clubs and community outreach, and adviser to ACE. “I encourage all commuters to participate in the week’s events, not only to have the chance to receive great ‘swag’ and to receive information and support on commuting, but also for a chance to represent their needs and requests through their own voice.”

Events throughout the week include, but are not limited to:

  • Commuter Resource Fair – March 11
  • How to Change a Flat Tire – March 12
  • What to Know When Living Off Campus – March 13
  • Puppies Stress Reliever – March 14
  • ACE Office Party – March 15
