The purchasing and operations manager of the RIT Inn & Conference Center is the recipient of the Outstanding Manager of the Year award from the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association.

Ronnie McCrea won the award in the “151 rooms and more” category, which recognizes exceptional performance by a supervisory employee to their subordinates, to guests and to the community.

“It’s exciting to receive this award,” says McCrea, who has worked at the RIT Inn for 18 years. “To be selected out of all the great hotels in New York is a great honor.”

In his role as purchasing and operations manager, McCrea wears many hats. He regularly helps with cooking, laundry, dishes and cleaning, in addition to his duties overseeing purchasing for the inn.

“It’s great to get an award, but it doesn’t make me better than anyone else here,” he says. “I’m part of a team.”

McCrea traveled to White Plains, N.Y., for the NYSHTA Stars of the Industry awards gala on April 22 to receive his award along with other winners from around New York in the hospitality industry.
