Engineering alumni to be honored

College celebrates successful alumni for their impact as engineers in national corporations

Professor Emeritus Sudhaker Paidy and Robert Spina ’89

The new class of alumni being inducted into department academies of the Kate Gleason College of Engineering includes leaders in digital imaging, interactive music technologies and transportation.

All 12 alumni will be recognized during individual department ceremonies in the college on Friday, Oct. 11, as part of RIT’s Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend. The academies recognize alumni who have made significant contributions to industry through their professional careers and achievements. A reception for the college, faculty, students, staff and alumni takes place at 4 p.m. on the Fourth Floor Multidisciplinary Senior Design Room in James E. Gleason Hall.

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department will induct Dan G. Ritter ’68, ’72, ’74 and ISE Professor Emeritus Sudhaker Paidy at 3 p.m. in the Xerox Auditorium, located in the engineering college.

“Sudhakar Paidy made great contributions in the early years of the program by introducing new technologies into the classrooms and labs,” says Scott Grasman, department head, industrial and systems engineering. “In doing so, he provided a broad industrial engineering education that was not available at other programs. And Dan Ritter was the first BS IE graduate. He opened many doors for the department, which had yet to establish its reputation with industry. Dan’s work ethic, personality and enthusiasm for the industrial engineering program undeniably contributed to its rapid growth and future success.”
