RIT celebrates National Engineers Week Feb. 16-22

RIT is celebrating National Engineers Week, Feb. 16-22, with a series of events and activities in the college. Since 1951, the week has been observed by national professional, corporate, academic, government and cultural organizations to highlight contributions made by engineers and to emphasize the importance of STEM education and skills.

RIT’s celebration is open to engineering students and includes activities such as Student Club Day from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17 in Erdle Commons, located on the first floor of the college.

Another feature event is Patent Consultant Day. Joseph Noto, a local patent attorney with Bond, Schoeneck & King, will meet with students at 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Gordon Atrium. Students can learn firsthand the process about patenting inventions. Students, faculty and staff in the college will also participate in “Fun Shirt Days” throughout the week: Super Hero Shirt Day (Monday), Hawaiian Shirt Day (Tuesday), Your Favorite Co-op Shirt Day (Wednesday), Ugly Sweater Day (Thursday) and Dress Like Your Favorite Engineer Day (Friday).

• 2-4 p.m. Feb. 19: Clear Your Cookies Day (Cookies served by engineering faculty), Gordon Atrium
