The RIT chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers
created one of 32 solar-powered cars selected for the first 1,700-mile GM SUNRAYCE USA in 1990. The SPIRIT (Solar-Powered Innovation at Rochester Institute of Technology) team participated in the races for several years.
