Alumni Book Club
Can you believe it? A new year is here, and we have just the resolution for you:Read More Books!
In the spirit of new beginnings and goal-setting, we invite you to join the RIT Alumni Book Club! Connecting through a private, free, online discussion forum, the group spends eight weeks reading each book and finishes five books a year. As a book club member, you often get to vote on the books we read, and the reading periods often culminate with a Livestream Author Talk.
Our first book of 2023 will be Horse by Pultizer Prize winner Geraldine Brooks, and we are thrilled that she will join us for an Author Talk on March 7.
Register today and start on your reading journey! We hope you will join us.

The Regular Decision college application deadline is right around the corner on January 15, 2023.
Alumni like you play an important role in recruiting future Tigers by recommending RIT to prospective students within your families, communities, and professional networks. And now that role is even more valuable!
Did you know, when you refer a prospective student to RIT, that student is eligible for the RIT Alumni Referral Award,a $1,000 per year scholarshiprenewable for four years? Each alum can refer one undergraduate applicant per year for this award.
RIT's Let Freedom Ring Celebration

New Legislation Positively Impacts Charitable Giving
The Secure Act 2.0 was recently signed into law. It includes three notable changes for those age 70 ' or older:
- Tax-free gifts from IRAs - also known as Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) - can now be used to create life income gifts (Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts). This is a one-time opportunity for donors and is subject to a maximum limit.
- The maximum contribution cap for QCDs that has been in place for well over a decade will finally increase annually for inflation. This will provide donors with additional funds for tax-free giving.
- In 2023, the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) age increased from 72 to 73. Individuals will have more time for tax-free savings.
