Breanna Litviak ’28 (hospitality & tourism management, marketing) is studying in Dubrovnik, Croatia, as part of the Global Hospitality Rotation. Students spend the spring semester of their second year studying at RIT Croatia on the campus of Dubrovnik.
Breanna writes:
My time on the Global Hospitality Rotation in Croatia has been the highlight of my college journey. Immersing myself in the local culture while learning about hospitality operations in an international context has been truly invaluable. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by how different approaches to guest experiences, service standards, and cultural expectations can be across countries and how these lessons will shape my future in the industry.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the program has been gaining hands-on experience through field trips, hotel management simulations, and realistic assignments, such as planning luxury trips for clients. These activities allow me to apply classroom knowledge in practical, professional contexts while learning the nuances of running a hotel and delivering top-tier guest experiences firsthand.
Living with fellow RIT students I might never have met otherwise has been another highlight. Over shared meals, travel adventures, and late-night conversations, we’ve become great friends. The rotation has also given me the opportunity to travel to several new countries, experiencing diverse cultures firsthand and seeing how hospitality varies across the globe.
This rotation has reinforced my passion for hospitality and travel, giving me the confidence to pursue a career that connects people and experiences across borders. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and immerse myself fully in such a unique environment, and I know the lessons from this experience and the friendships I’ve made will stay with me long after I return home.
