Providing freshman students opportunities to create, innovate, and lead through comprehensive business plan development.
The Freshman Experience Biz 1+2 provides first-year students hands-on education through various applied-learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom. Throughout two semesters, this learning cohort lays the groundwork and foundation of business knowledge through elements of entrepreneurship and functional areas. It’s designed to help students decide if they’d like to continue onto a business major, double major, or change program after one year. Working with dedicated faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, it’s a unique experience compared to students at other business colleges that aren’t exposed to these learnings until their second or third year.
Business plans are presented to a panel of alums and industry experts in the fall semester for professional guidance. Students continue to work on their projects throughout the spring semester and present them once again. This years winners were determined in both Professor Molly McGowan and Professor Rick Lagiewski Ph.D. classes.
