MS Hospitality Business Management Students Conduct Feasibility Study in Spain

During spring break 2026, four MS in Hospitality Business Management students—Brian Haak ’26, Emily Rahrle ‘26, Sammantha Tasciotti ‘26, and Susan McGroarty ‘26—traveled to Piñera, Spain, as part of their capstone project.

Under the guidance of Jerrie Hsieh, professor in the department of international hospitality and service innovation, the students conducted a feasibility study on a proposed bed-and-breakfast development. During the trip, they visited the site, gathered local tourism information, met with mayors and local residents, toured nearby hotels, spoke with tourists, and identified nearby attractions.

The visit was featured in a public news post by a local hotel.

Writes Professor Hsieh, “This experience reflects RIT Saunders College of Business’s commitment to experiential learning by allowing students to apply their knowledge to a real-world hospitality project in an international setting."
