Saunders Hosts Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession Event

Archana Jain, associate professor in the department of finance and accounting, hosted 29 high school students as part of Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP), which introduces young people to the accounting field, May 30 through June 1, 2025, at RIT.

Shayla Scott  ’16 (accounting) ’17 (MBA), senior manager at MMB+CO, led the program.

“COAP was great this year, says Scott. “The students explored the path to becoming a CPA and gained exposure to areas like forensic accounting , business valuations, public accounting and more. They also had the chance to strengthen their soft skills through mock interviews, a resume-building session led by RIT’s Natasha House and an etiquette dinner led by Susan Vernick from Etiquette Chics

“We ended the weekend with a beautiful keynote speech from RIT’s Phillippa Thiuri. Overall, it was a great weekend.”
