Club sports are a big part of student life at the university. Every year, about 2,000 students are involved with the nearly 50 different club sports. For many, it scratches that competitive itch. For others, it’s a chance to try something new, find a community, and stay active.

Four RIT alumni and former student-athletes have turned locker-room bonds and an entrepreneurial drive into a growing company.

A program at Saunders College of Business is helping students gain real-world immersion into the careers they study.

The Bernard Kozel StartUP Program @ Saunders is helping student teams turn innovative ideas into the beginnings of tangible businesses. 

The complimentary access is a result of an interdisciplinary team of RIT students winning the 2024 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge last fall. The winning “Tigers Trading” team outlasted 2,453 teams from 396 universities in 46 countries in a 6+ week simulated investing challenge.

The team, supported by faculty adviser and finance professor Hao Zhang, won the 2024 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge.

RIT’s new real estate in hospitality minor gives students the opportunity to connect real estate knowledge with hospitality management practices. Launched in fall 2023, this minor is designed to equip students with specialized skills for careers in both industries.

The team is the first to earn the Ramsey Family Innovation Award, which will provide annual support for one student team each year enrolled in the RIT Student Accelerator program.

Saunders College of Business Professors Chun-Keung “Stan” Hoi and Sean Hansen were installed as endowed professors during a Sept. 26 ceremony.

Chen, a Beta Gamma Sigma honoree this past April, has also earned the Saunders College of Business Women’s Alumnae Network, and Daniel D. Tessoni and Donald Margolis CPA endowed scholarships.

The business exploration program at Saunders College of Business is your opportunity to spend up to a year and a half taking fundamental business courses and meeting with faculty, staff, and career advisors before selecting from one of the college’s seven, nationally-ranked, business majors.
