Why did you decide to attend Saunders College of Business at RIT?

I wanted to learn more about the business industry, specifically hotels, resorts, travel, and restaurants. I hope to take everything that I learned during my time at Saunders to synthesize and take my skills to the next level within the industry.

In what ways has Saunders/RIT prepared you for the job market?

Employers will see that you have graduated from one of the best business schools in the country underneath the umbrella of a highly reputable, expanding university. With the plethora of classes that Saunders offers, students should take full advantage of them. Through all the math courses, business courses, public speaking courses, accounting courses, and others, they will prepare you for the real world.

What do you feel is the most distinctive advantage gained from your Saunders experience?

Study abroad. It shapes you into the person you want to be but also allows you to learn about other cultures around the world. Additionally, dedicate some time and talk to professors. They want to help and see you succeed during your time at Saunders.

What do you do?

I am a treasury specialist at the Concord Hospitality corporate office in Raleigh, North Carolina. I oversee the budgets, finances, and look at daily bank statements for all the hotels that we manage across North America. I make sure that our properties are not overspending or underspending their budgets. It's also my responsibility to balance the bank reconciliation coversheets before they are sent off to the appropriate hotels in our portfolio.

What has Saunders best helped me to reach my career success?

Saunders faculty have helped me to become successful. They have helped me to be prepared for any kind of barriers that have (may) come across and learn how to jump over those walls in order to keep moving forward along with the industry as the business world changes everyday.

What should current students know about Saunders?

Enjoy your time now, because once you are done with school, you will have to show employers that you are eager to learn and work with anything that you may encounter. After college, you may not get the dream job or dream position you may want. You will have to earn it; hard work will pay off. Graduating from Saunders is the first step into the adulthood.
