Melanie Shea is the founder of Token, a digital identity company. With a PhD in Consumer Behavior, she has spent her career building intuitive experiences that make complicated technologies like cryptocurrency widely accessible by unraveling the complexities of consumer decision-making. With her work in the identity space, Melanie has become an advocate for personal freedom, speaking at TED2018, the United Nations, and other global forums on the interconnectedness of personal freedom and identity.
Melanie’s passion for empowering women is deeply embedded in her professional journey. She is a board director at Code-to-Inspire, an organization that teaches girls to code in Afghanistan, as well as an angel investor focused on supporting female founders. Outside of her professional engagements, she is deeply committed to mental well-being and volunteers as a crisis counselor at Crisis Text Line, a suicide hotline helping people navigate their most challenging times.
