New Student Government leaders set for 2020-2021 year

More than 20 Rochester Institute of Technology students have been seated for senators and representative student organization positions in Student Government for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Although several of the students will be involved in committees this summer – particularly for plans to reopen campus for the fall semester – the complete group will meet when the fall semester begins.

2020-2021 Student Government (year of studies mentioned for the 2020-2021 academic year):

  • President: Shine DeHarder, a fourth-year biomedical sciences major from Jamestown, N.Y.
  • Vice president: Jared Ortega, a fourth-year environmental sustainability health and safety major from Carmel, N.Y.
  • College of Art and Design senator: Shantel Watson, a second-year medical illustration major from Yonkers, N.Y.
  • College of Liberal Arts senator: Jacob Custer, a fourth-year economics and public policy major from Lincoln, Neb.
  • College of Science senator: Lauren Trumpore, a fourth-year biotechnology and molecular bioscience major from Warren, N.J.
  • School of Individualized Study senator: Caitlin Pope, a fourth-year medical analytics major from Los Angeles, Calif.
  • Saunders College of Business senator: Christopher Ferrari, a second-year marketing and political science major from Spencerport, N.Y.
  • College of Engineering Technology senator: Griffin Warntz, a third-year environmental sustainability health and safety major from York, Pa.
  • College of Health Sciences and Technology senator: Diksha Thakkar, a fourth-year biomedical sciences major from Fairport, N.Y.
  • Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences senator: Devin Matte, a fifth-year software engineering major from Sandy Hook, Conn.
  • Kate Gleason College of Engineering senator: Meleni Sarantos, a second-year chemical engineering major from St. James, N.Y.
  • Cross-registered senator: Ruiying Gao, a second-year computer science major from Andover, Mass.
  • Women’s Senator: Anika Griffiths, a fourth-year sociology and anthropology major from Miami, Fla.
  • Graduate senator: Sri Charitha Velamur, studying graduate student entrepreneurship and innovation ventures, from Vijayawada, India.
  • Greek senator: Alexis McNeill, a fifth-year computer engineering technology major from Queens, N.Y.
  • Global Union president: Isabel Lopez, a third-year international and global studies major from Scranton, Pa.
  • Global Union vice president: Christian Aguilar, a third-year computer engineering technology major from White Plains, N.Y.
  • Global Union director of finance: Anthony Coneo, a third-year management information systems major from Queens, N.Y.
  • ALANA Collegiate Association president: Patrick Edwards, a fourth-year economics and applied statistics double major, from New Haven, Conn.
