RIT to Host Computer Gaming Workshop for Girl Scouts Saturday
Event joins Girl Scouts with women gaming professionals

The B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences will host a daylong computer game workshop for Rochester-area Girl Scouts on Saturday.
Rochester-area Girl Scouts will get a hands-on lesson in computer design and development at Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday. The Department of Interactive Games and Media and the Women in Computing group at RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is hosting a daylong workshop that is designed to introduce girls to the world of computer game creation and connect them to women already in the field.
The workshop will be held in room 1380 of RIT’s Orange Hall, which is located to the east of the Golisano College and the south of the Kate Gleason College of Engineering, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The workshop will include a presentation by Rebecca Ferraro from Second Avenue Software and Jessica Dommes, an RIT game design and development student, on the various roles that people play within a gaming company and hands-on work developing simple computer game levels.
The session will be led by RIT Associate Professor of Interactive Games and Media Stephen Jacobs and graduate students Marissa Gomes, Yana Malysheva and Emma Liao.
