Schwartz publishes paper on governing synthetic data
Christopher Schwartz, research scientist in the Department of Cybersecurity, published “Is Simulated Evidence Still Evidence? A Warrant-Based Policy for Governing Synthetic Data” for the AI Policy Lab at Umeå University (Sweden), where Schwartz is completing a research fellowship. The paper investigates how AI-generated artifacts are challenging society’s concept of evidence and proposes a comprehensive strategy for how governments can deal with this problem.
