RIT Croatia student representatives join RIT Student Government Consortium hosted by RIT Kosovo

Student Government (SG) members from RIT Croatia's Dubrovnik and Zagreb campuses recently participated in the annual RIT Student Government consortium, hosted for the first time by RIT Kosovo (A.U.K.) in Prishtina from October 10-14, 2025. The event gathered SG representatives from all RIT global campuses, marking a significant step for RIT Croatia's integration into the wider RIT network.

The RIT Croatia delegation—Naomi Strejček and Fran Brežanin from the Zagreb campus, and Tomo Naglić and Lea Gugić from the Dubrovnik campus—aimed to represent their campuses, exchange ideas on student engagement, and share strategies for improving campus life.

"The main purpose was to strengthen collaboration among the different RIT global campuses and exchange ideas," said Naomi Strejček, SG member at the Zagreb campus. "Our specific goals were to learn how other campuses approach community building, inclusivity, and communication with administration, and find inspiration for new initiatives that could enhance the overall student experience in Croatia."

The consortium featured valuable workshops, including a leadership session and a "world café" format for discussing campus challenges and improvements. Naomi Strejček noted, "As a takeaway, we plan to strengthen inter-campus cooperation, introduce more feedback-driven event planning, and create a platform for continuous communication between SG members across all campuses."

A Focus on Collaboration

For RIT Croatia, the trip was a success in establishing lasting connections. "I truly believe we built connections that will last well beyond this consortium," stated Tomo Naglić, SG member at the Dubrovnik campus. He also shared an exciting, albeit hypothetical, early idea: "One of the first ideas that came out of our conversations is a (for now) hypothetical business research trip that would bring together students from at least three RIT campuses. It is something we are genuinely excited about."

The delegation also used the opportunity to showcase the unique structure of RIT Croatia's SG. Tomo Naglić explained, "As RIT Croatia, we are in a unique position, having two campuses but one united Student Government. We wanted to showcase that collaboration and alignment to the rest of the consortium."

Advisor Support and Global Impact

RIT Croatia Student Government mentors Tamara Lipnjak, Student Life and Wellbeing Coordinator, and Christina Pejić, Erasmus Manager & International Student Office Specialist, accompanied the students. They emphasized the institutional significance of the visit.

"Attending the first Student Government hosted by RIT Kosovo has been an impactful experience for our student leaders and us as their advisors," said Tamara Lipnjak. "Most importantly, collaborating with their peers from Rochester, Dubai, and Kosovo, our student leaders had the chance to develop their intercultural competencies and deepen their understanding of the global, diverse community that RIT entails."

To ensure the team was prepared, the advisors held individual meetings and organized a joint online meeting with all participating campuses for a 'Campus Spotlight' presentation. Christina Pejić shared, "The host campus representatives also presented the detailed consortium agenda, going through the schedule day by day to provide clarity on activities, logistics, and objectives." The foundational support helped RIT Croatia's representatives maximize their first consortium experience and return with tangible plans for enhanced campus life.
