Hassan Aziz will join RIT from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he currently serves as dean and professor of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. He starts on Aug. 1. 

A prestigious fellowship will deepen biomedical sciences student Elena Fuentes Solano’s understanding of the needs facing rural communities and help prepare her for a career in medicine.

ArtEx creates opportunities for students outside of RIT’s College of Art and Design to participate in creative and collaborative experiences by granting special access to engage with the studios, resources, and expertise available within the School for American Crafts and School of Art.

The Early Opportunity Program in Medicine is a pre-admission program to the Jacobs School. Accepted students will gain professional interaction and career training at the medical school while earning their undergraduate degree at RIT.

Sammy Deol won a yearlong Fulbright Scholarship to attend graduate school in England. He will earn a master’s degree in public health in preparation for medical school.

Ellie Warren came to RIT with the goal of becoming trilingual. Now fluent in English, American Sign Language, and Spanish, her next stop is medical school.

RIT students enrolled in a global public health class spent a weeklong field trip in the Dominican Republic examining healthcare and emergency services.

RIT researcher Bolaji Thomas is leading a $650,000 study to compare the genetic response in cattle in sub-Saharan Africa to the parasitic disease Trypanosomiasis, or “sleeping sickness,” that attacks their blood and brain. As parasites adapt to a warming world, the biting fly that transmits Trypanosomiasis could someday migrate to northern climates.
