Common Questions

What is Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival?

Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival is a campus-wide event that showcases the innovative and creative spirit of RIT students, faculty and staff. Visitors experience the breadth and depth of RIT through interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, exhibitions, and research projects set up throughout campus. Multiple performance stages with live music and entertainment are also a hit with visitors of all ages. Held annually each spring, Imagine RIT is the kickoff to Rochester’s rich festival season.

What are the future dates of the festival?

  • Saturday, April 24, 2021
  • April TBD, 2022

Can we bring our pets to the festival?

Bringing pets of any kind to Imagine RIT is strongly discouraged. Pets are not permitted in the facilities of RIT and any pets that are the grounds of RIT must be under appropriate restraint (leash, cage, etc.). This restriction is obviously not intended to prevent those participants with disabilities from using service dogs on campus.

Is smoking allowed on the RIT campus?

As of August 17, 2015, RIT is a tobacco-restricted campus. During Imagine RIT please consider our non-smoking festival visitors and use discretion if you choose to use tobacco outdoors. Tobacco use is prohibited inside academic buildings, offices, dining facilities, vending areas, loading docks, vestibules and RIT housing. Smoking is permitted in private vehicles. The RIT policy includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, hookah, e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco.

Where will the festival be held?

Imagine RIT takes place throughout RIT’s campus in Henrietta, NY.

Where should I park?

Visitors can park for free on the RIT campus on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once you park, visit the interactive campus map and “drop a pin” while in the parking lot. This will provide you walking directions back to your car when you are ready to leave. Parking is also available at Monroe Community College (MCC) in lots J and H, with free shuttle bus service to/from RIT. The first shuttle leaves MCC for RIT at 7:30 am. The last shuttle will leave RIT for MCC at 6:00 pm. Once RIT lots are full, volunteers will direct all visitors to MCC.

Who can attend?

This hotbed of innovation and creativity is free and open to the public. We welcome you to bring your family and invite your friends!

In addition, we would like to extend a special invitation to RIT alumni. Whether you visit campus often or haven’t been back in years, Imagine RIT is an event you will not want to miss.

We also urge prospective students and their parents to attend, as well as current and incoming students and their families.

Can I arrange a field trip for my organization to attend?

We encourage mentoring organizations, school superintendents, principals, teachers, guidance counselors, and other educators to schedule a school/class trip or simply encourage their students to attend. Visit our Educators & Mentors page for more information.

How much will it cost?

Admittance to the festival is FREE! But you may want to bring spending money for food and beverages (outdoor venues only accept cash). There will also be a limited supply of festival merchandise for sale.

How can I get more information on the festival?

The best way to get more information about the festival is to use the form on the Contact Us page.
