Henning and Makalsky publish research on the Iwakura Mission
Joseph Henning, associate professor of history, and alumnus Leo Makalsky co-authored “To Adopt the Principles of Freedom: Christianity, Women’s Education, and Progress in U.S. Press Coverage of the Iwakura Mission,” a paper on U.S. press coverage of the 1872 Iwakura Mission, published in the Journal of American-East Asian Relations.
