Henning publishes book on William Elliot Griffis

Joseph Henning, associate professor of history, published Interpreting the Mikado’s Empire: The Writings of William Elliot Griffis (Lexington Books). It brings together for the first time the best work of Griffis, who was unequaled in his career as an American authority on 19th- and early 20th-century Japan.
