Achieving carry-over to conversational speech is critical, but always presents a challenge.

Correcting and monitoring production is difficult especially when incorrect productions are habituated.

In the following sequence a student produces a text and is then asked to produce another text with monitoring. It should be noted that this student was not receiving speech/language instruction but volunteered to participate in a taping session.

In this sequence a student is first asked to read what she wrote.

She is then asked to reread the text, concentrating on clarity.

In this clip the student explains what she did.

She is then asked to read the text again, using less emphasis.
