Interviewing deaf people for radio broadcast may seem a bit unconventional, but StoryCorps, a nonprofit oral history project that records conversations and archives them in the American Folk Life Center at the Library of Congress, is doing just that. NTID President Alan Hurwitz, former NTID staffers Paul and Sally Taylor and Robert Panara, who was NTID’s first faculty member when the college welcomed its inaugural class in 1968, participated in StoryCorps interviews and chronicled important moments in their lives and how they relate to NTID. Copies of each interview were sent to the Library of Congress in Washington where they will be archived and available for public access. Copies are also available in RIT’s Deaf Archives.
