RIT Hosts 2nd Annual VoIP Conference, May 5

As the telecommunications industry evolves from traditional telephony toward an Internet provider telephony, there are questions about such issues as security and quality of service. In an effort to address some of these challenges, Rochester Institute of Technology has invited industry leaders to speak at its 2nd annual VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) Conference on Friday, May 5, in the Golisano College auditorium.

Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy will make introductory remarks at 9 a.m. followed by a keynote address from Maggie Wilderotter, chairman and CEO at Citizens Communications. Wilderotter’s address begins at 9:30 a.m.

Mark Murphy, Time Warner vice president and general manager of customer care and digital phone will give a presentation at 10:30 a.m. Sanjay Hiranandani, vice president of engineering at PAETEC Communications speaks at 11:15 a.m.

The VoIP conference is co-hosted by the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences and the College of Applied Science and Technology. 

MEDIA NOTE: Members of the media should park in J lot on the RIT campus.
