Third Annual RIT Electronic Waste Recycling Day, Jan. 27

MEDIA ADVISORY-PHOTO OPPORTUNITY The holidays are over. It’s the most wonderful time of year to recycle those old electronics.

The Student Environmental Action League (SEAL) at Rochester Institute of Technology is hosting the Third Annual RIT Electronic Waste Recycling Day. This event has been coordinated with RIT Purchasing and Maven Technologies, RIT’s electronic waste vendor.

Students will drop off electronic devices—obsolete or broken computers, monitors, TVs, microwaves, printers, calculators and VCRs—to recycle. Faculty and staff may recycle RIT devices or bring items from home for a small fee.

Students will help carry heavy items from campus offices or from cars parked outside the Student Alumni Union, but small items may be taken to the Student Alumni Union or to the Erdle Commons of the James E. Gleason Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.

In last year’s event, SEAL collected over two tons of electronics to recycle.
