Creator of Poetry for Peace Comes to RIT

Michael Czarnecki, influential New York poet and owner of Foothills Publishing, will give a poetry reading on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27. The event is sponsored by the Department of Language and Literature and Signatures Magazine and is funded, in part, by Poets and Writers Inc, through a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.

The reading will be followed by a reception on the second floor of the Wallace Library, opening an exhibit honoring "Twenty Years of Foothills Publishing."

Foothills Publishing was founded in 1985 by Czarnecki to promote the work of poets who had not been able to access traditional publishing methods. Among other projects, the company has published a well-received series of anthologies on politics, war and peace called Poetry for Peace.

For more information about the event, contact John Roche, professor of language and literature, at 585-475-4922 or jroche@firstclass.rit.edu.
