RIT Fundraisers Benefit Community and Health, May 1-2

Walk, roll or bike your way to health and philanthropy this May with fundraisers at Rochester Institute of Technology.

The RIT running club is sponsoring a 5K Hustle for Habitat walk/run at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 1. All proceeds from the walk will be donated to Flower City Habitat for Humanity.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the walk in front of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Building. Registration is $5 for students, $10 for faculty and staff and $15 for the public. The first 70 registrants are guaranteed race T-shirts.

Top-placing male and female finishers in each division will receive awards. For more information and to register, visit www.rit.edu/~wxcwww.

The Delta Phi Epsilon sorority is sponsoring the 11th annual Rollerblade to Geneseo event on Sunday, May 2.

The Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser kicks off behind Wallace Library at 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast. Then, at 9 a.m., the 23-mile ride to Geneseo begins. A $15 registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and a student-designed event T-shirt. Registration tables will also be in the Student Alumni Union from April 26-30.

Proceeds will go to Cystic Fibrosis research. In addition to the registration fee, participants are encouraged to get additional donations. Last year’s event raise around $1,500. Event organizers expect about 100 people to skate (and bike) to Geneseo.

Prizes will be awarded to the first skater and biker to cross the finish line. The event is open to the public, age 18 and older. For more information, visit http://rollerbladetogeneseo.cjb.net or contact Jessica Moy at jwm1817@rit.edu or 424-8318.
