Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences introduces Dean’s Lecture

Lawrence L. Peckham, retired chairman and CEO of LPA Software, becomes the first speaker for a new lecture series at Rochester Institute of Technology.

RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences introduces the GCCIS Dean’s Lecture, which kicks off at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18. The free event takes place in Xerox Auditorium, James E. Gleason Building, on RIT’s Henrietta campus.

Peckham’s presentation, The Tortoise and the Hare: Who will be More Successful in a Technology Startup?, examines the value-based philosophy of entrepreneurial ventures.

In 1972, Peckham founded LPA Software, which remained a one-man operation for more than five years. The company developed custom software programs for major companies and sold software products worldwide. Now known as Xelus Inc., the Fairport-based company employs 250 workers.
