RIT Hosts Rochester-Area Chinese New Year Celebration Jan. 27

Rochester Institute of Technology, in conjunction with several Rochester-area organizations, will celebrate the Year of the Little Dragon on Saturday, Jan. 27, starting with a cultural show at 5 p.m. in RIT's Clark Gymnasium. The Chinese New Year gala continues with a Chinese buffet immediately following at 7:30 p.m. in the Grace Watson dining room. Ballroom dancing begins in Clark Gym at 9 p.m.

Festivities include a welcome from Rochester Mayor William Johnson; Lion Dance; Mongolian Dance; Wreath Dance; Ribbon Dance; Tea Harvest; several performances by the Joy Luck Dancers; a performance by the Chinese Choral Society of Rochester; a martial arts show by Rochester Shaolin Academy; and a fashion show.

Participating organizations include RIT Asian Cultural Society, RIT Chinese Student and Scholar Association, Monroe Community College Asian Multi-Cultural Association, Rochester Asian Organization, Rochester Chinese Association, Chinese Federation of Greater Rochester and the Chinese School of Rochester.
