Visual Artists, Musicians, Filmmakers and Dancers Collaborate on Multimedia Works

ImageMovementSound Festival set for April 1 and 15 at various Rochester venues

Artistic impression will flourish as local motion picture/image makers, composers, dancers, choreographers, visual artists, and musicians unite for the eleventh annual ImageMovementSound Festival. The festival will feature an array of collaborative multi-media performances April 1 and April 15.

Students and faculty members from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Film and Animation as well as the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, State University of New York College at Brockport’s Department of Dance, the Visual Studies Workshop, along with some independent artists, have created 14 works that combine these diverse artistic media.

RIT artists use film, video and computer technology to produce graphic elements or a motion picture, while Eastman faculty and students compose original acoustic and computer-generated music and sound. SUNY Brockport choreographers and dancers create movement in concert for the purpose of live and/or edited video performance.

A presentation of the new multimedia collaborations will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, in RIT’s Student Alumni Union’s Ingle Auditorium. An encore presentation will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at the Visual Studies Workshop Auditorium on Prince Street.
