RIT Students Stay ‘Up ‘til Dawn’ for Charity, April 25

Late night event caps a year of fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

Rochester Institute of Technology students will be staying up all night, and they’re doing it in the name of charity. Up ‘til Dawn, a student-run organization that raises money for St. Jude’s Childrens Hopsital, is hosting its ‘Spring Bash ‘08’ Friday, April 25, from 11 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

The event, which is open only to the RIT community, includes live musical performances, a juggling show, limbo and pie eating contests, raffles and an early breakfast. A representative from St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be on hand to deliver remarks and thank the RIT community for its contributions.

“Our club exists with a unique dual purpose: to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, and to unite the RIT campus,” says Carol Callesano, executive director of the organization and a fourth-year RIT student. “I am astounded at the generous response we have received in our first year, and look forward to seeing the club grow over time.”

The event concludes with an announcement of the grand total of the contribution RIT will be making to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The organization raised more than $8,000 last year in its first year of existence.
