Holiday Duo at RIT’s Gallery r on Park Avenue

Ice sculpture creation on Thursday, Dec. 4; exhibit opening on Friday, Dec. 5

Gallery r is staying right at home for the holidays.

RIT’s Metro Showcase and Learning Laboratory for the Arts, located at 775 Park Ave., will share in the holiday magic of the Park Avenue Winter festival when School of Art faculty and students create one of their landmark ice sculptures on site from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4.

The event also sets the stage for a brand new exhibition, Showcasing New Media, which opens with a reception from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5. The show, which runs through Jan. 3, features installations, sequential art and digital Web design from program studies in RIT’s School of Design.

Regular gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free and Gallery r is handicapped-accessible. For more information about the holiday events, call (585) 392-9470.
