Electronic Waste Recycling Day Dec. 10 at RIT

Student environmental management club hosts eighth annual event

Ready to get rid of that analog television? Do you have old printers that have seen better days and better copies? Or are you ready to dispose of your old 56K computer to make way for your new iMac?

Consider recycling these items at the annual Electronic Waste Recycling Day at RIT. Bring electronic equipment for recycling 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the College of Applied Science and Technology building, first floor lobby.

Last year, more than six tons of equipment was collected from departments and colleges, says Josh Goldowitz, faculty advisor to the Student Environmental Action League. The materials were then turned over to Maven Technologies, a local recycling company to dispose of the material.

The event is sponsored by the Student Environmental Action League, a group of environmental management and technology students in CAST. There is no fee for RIT equipment being removed; there is a modest fee for non-RIT equipment. For questions or to schedule a pick up of materials from department offices, contact Goldowitz at jxgctp@rit.edu
