RIT Hosts Series of Speakers for Gravure Day March 24

Industry professionals from Target Corp., RR Donnelley and Armstrong to present

Rochester Institute of Technology’s internationally recognized School of Print Media will celebrate Gravure Day on March 24 to promote the understanding of the gravure process and help students explore opportunities in gravure industries.

Among the day’s highlights will be presentations from experts in the gravure printing industry. The activities go from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the Frank E. Gannett Building, Neblette Conference Room, on the RIT campus. Events are free and open to the public.

Paul Steen, group manager, circular operations for Target Corp., kicks off the presentations at 8:15 a.m. Steen will talk about the role of gravure at the retail chain.

At 9 a.m., Tim Flynn, manufacturing manager, gravure process at RR Donnelley, examines the challenges of providing print product for today’s magazines, catalogs and retail insert markets. Rod Sosa, technical development officer at Armstrong Industries, rounds out the industry presentations at 9:45 a.m. with a look at the gravure process and flooring industry.
