Author Laurie Halse Anderson speaks April 3
‘New York Times’ bestselling-author to discuss finding your voice and telling your story

Author Laurie Halse Anderson will visit RIT for a talk at 7 p.m. April 3 in the Fireside Lounge, Student Alumni Union.
Children’s and young adult author Laurie Halse Anderson, first recognized for her New York Times bestselling novel Speak, will visit Rochester Institute of Technology.
Anderson will discuss finding your voice and telling your story at 7 p.m. April 3 in the Fireside Lounge, Student Alumni Union. Refreshments and a book signing will follow the free and open talk.
Known for tackling tough subjects with humor and sensitivity, her work has earned numerous national and state awards, as well as international recognition. Two of her books, Speak and Chains, were National Book Award finalists. She lives in northern New York and is a mother of four. Her stepson Christian Larrabee is a fourth-year biochemistry student at RIT.
“Laurie will be here to discuss that journey from feeling like you’re the only one to finding strength and power by discovering your truth,” says Cha Ron Sattler-Leblanc, associate director for the Center for Women and Gender. “Stories are a safe way for us to learn that we are not the first to feel hurt.”
