Professor to discuss biomedical optics

Event is free and open to the public

Mary-Ann Mycek, professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan College of Engineering and the School of Medicine

The promise and practice of biomedical optics will be the focus of the next talk in the Rochester Institute of Technology College of Science Distinguished Speaker series.

Mary-Ann Mycek, professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan College of Engineering and the School of Medicine, will present “Biomedical Optics—Shining Light on Clinical Medicine,” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science auditorium on the RIT campus. Her talk—free and open to the public—will give an overview of the medical research and technological advances behind biomedical optics for clinical diagnostics.

Mycek’s research program develops optical tools and methods for probing living biological tissues. Her goal is to impact patient care by developing non- and minimally invasive optical diagnostic technologies.
