Medical illustration alumni honored
Jim Perkins, professor and department head, Department of Medical Sciences, Health, and Management, and Craig Foster, assistant professor, School of Art, attended the 76th annual meeting of the Association of Medical Illustrators in Des Moines, Iowa, July 20-24. Several RIT alumni received awards in the AMI salon (art exhibition) at the meeting: Val Altounian ’13, Award of Excellence in the editorial illustration category and Award of Merit in the editorial illustration category; Hannah Ely ’15, Award of Merit in the didactic/instructional illustration (non-commercial) category; Sarah Scull ’03, two Awards of Merit in the simulators, prosthetics and sculptural products category; and Jack Nelson ’19, Members’ Choice Award in the animation/interactive media category.

Ahndraya Parlato named a Fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has awarded Senior Lecturer Ahndraya Parlato a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship. According to the foundation, this year’s fellowships were granted to a “distinguished and diverse group of culture-creators working across 52 disciplines.”
