Bio
Hello, and welcome to CaPS! My name is Conner Burry, and I am a mental health therapist at CaPS, as well as one of the embedded therapists in the university's Q Center. I am a licensed master social worker in NYS, as well as a board-certified music therapist, having received both my Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Music degrees from Nazareth College. I identify as both Queer and non-binary, and use he/him and they/them pronouns.
I am fluent in American Sign Language, and strive to be an ally to both the Deaf and disability communities.
My approach to therapy is largely relational and I am passionate about ensuring the therapeutic alliance is an equal partnership in which students can feel comfortable in their vulnerability to bring their authentic selves and work toward positive changes. I have particular interest in working with students who hope to gain a better understanding of themselves and how they relate to others. This can look like issues related to sexuality and gender, identity work, or relationship issues (social, romantic, and/or familial), to name a few.
I strive to be an ally to BIPOC communities, and engage in an ongoing process of learning to practice from an anti-racist and decolonized framework.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our constant farm of foster dogs, playing piano, and consuming Queer media (books, TV shows, movies, etc.). I am always open to recommendations for media to add to my list!
