Fees and Payments

Services offered by RIT’s Integrated Health Services, comprised of Counseling and Psychological Services, including NTID Psychological Services; Case Management; and the Student Health Center, are available to all matriculated students.

Student Health Services Fee

All full-time undergraduate students and graduate students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours in a degree program, and students enrolled in the English Language Program, are assessed the Student Health Services Fee. This fee supports a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to promote student health and well-being. Services include those provided by the Student Health Center, Student Counseling and Psychological Services, Case Management, Health Promotion, and campus-wide well-being initiatives.

The Student Health Services fee does not cover diagnostic tests performed by off-site laboratories and centers, x-rays or other imaging, prescriptions, medications dispensed by the Student Health Center, or referrals to outside specialists and/or other health care providers.

Part-time and co-op students may choose to pay the semester Student Health Services Fee to access the full range of programs and services, or they may pay an office visit fee for services in the Student Health Center or Student Counseling and Psychological Services.

RIT expects all students to carry medical insurance. Some plans provide emergency service coverage only. If your plan does not provide adequate comprehensive coverage in the Rochester area, RIT offers a Student Accident and Sickness Insurance program for purchase.

Paying the Student Health Services Fee

The Student Health Services Fee can be billed directly to a student’s University Student Account. Students may also choose to pay the fee in a lump sum, not through their University Student Account. Payments are accepted in the form of cash, check, TigerBucks, Visa, and Mastercard. Students may also pay a single-visit fee for appointments at Counseling and Psychological Services and the Student Health Center, as needed. Payments must be made at the time of the appointment at the Student Health Center front desk, located on the first floor of the August Center.

Students who have not paid the Student Health Services Fee are not charged for the first two urgent care appointments at Counseling and Psychological Services or for urgent care appointments that result from a post-hospitalization check-in. In addition, students are not charged for appointments that result from being escorted to Counseling and Psychological Services for an urgent care appointment.

Financial Assistance

RIT Wellness is committed to supporting all students in their ability to access care, regardless of financial status. Students who can provide evidence of financial hardship may be eligible to receive financial assistance. All students who wish to request financial assistance must ask the Counseling and Psychological Services receptionist to send a Financial Assistance Form via the RIT Wellness Portal.

Insurance Company Reimbursements

Counseling and Psychological Services and the Student Health Center do not bill insurance companies directly for services provided, however, students may obtain a receipt for a single-visit fee, which can be submitted to their insurance company for consideration of reimbursement (please note that not all insurance companies will reimburse single-visit fees). Insurance companies will not reimburse payment of the full Student Health Services Fee.

If you need a receipt for insurance purposes or need to access handouts from your appointment, follow this easy step-by-step guide for Finding your Appointment Handouts and Receipt on the Portal.
